Siteshop Information Studio has been created to work in both Windows and Web environments of SuperOffice. This makes it easier for the customers to choose the right SuperOffice platform and even mixed environments are possible.

The software is Client/Server based and the Server software consists of a set of web services which communicates with SuperOffice through the SuperOffice NetServer 3.1 API. Therefore also the Unicode option of a SuperOffice databases is supported.

The Client software consists of ActiveX controls that are installed on the clients the same way that Adobe Flash or other ActiveX components are.

The client software is built on MS .NET Framework 2 which is found on almost all Windows computers.

Siteshop Information Studio contains an update engine that makes it easy to upgrade to new versions for the server and the clients automatically. Still the administrator decides when the upgrade is implemented.

  

 

SuperOffice API NetServer
Siteshop Information Studio communicates with the SuperOffice Database through the SuperOffice NetServer 3.1 web services.

This way data from SuperOffice complies with the sentry system in SuperOffice and there is no direct connection to the underlying database. Siteshop Information Studio will thus support all databases that SuperOffice supports.

Data sources
Siteshop Information Studio supports a variety of data sources:

  • OleDB/ODBC
  • CSV text files
  • .XLS files
  • XML files
  • Web services (SOAP, URL, XML)
  • SuperOffice API

The data sources are administered by the SIS Administration application and Data Set Designer.

The data sources are used to import data to SuperOffice but also for advanced searches where data sources of different types are combined.

This way you can connect budget data from an Excel sheet with sales data from your ERP system and group it by sales person or department from SuperOffice and show the result in a chart inside a SuperOffice web panel.

  

Siteshop Information Studio Components
SIS consists of the following components:

  • Administrator Tool with these features:
    - License administration
    - User access control
    - Data source administration
    - Import job setup
    - Job Scheduler

  • DataSet Designer for custom designed data sets used by the search engine
  • Search engine used to set up predefined searches
  • Forms Designer used to create custom forms
  • Data Viewer is used to show a form
  • Auto update used to upgrade software

Simple user administration
User authorization is also done through SuperOffice NetServer and therefore you will not need to register all users in Siteshop Information Studio separatly.

User access may be given on a role level and that means that even when a new user is created in SuperOffice – it will automatically be active in Siteshop Information Studio as well.
